On Friday, April 12 at 7:30 pm you are invited to join Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts to hear local authors Julie Schumacher and May Lee-Yang read selections from their writings.
Julie Schumacher’s first novel, The Body Is Water, was an ALA Notable Book of the Year and a finalist for the PEN/Hemingway Award. Her other books include a short story collection, five novels for younger readers, and – most recently – the national bestseller Dear Committee Members, winner of the Thurber Prize for American Humor. Ms. Schumacher is the first woman to have won the Thurber Prize.
May Lee-Yang is a playwright, poet, prose writer, and performance artist. She has been hailed by Twin Cities Metro Magazine as “on the way to becoming one of the most powerful and colorful voices in local theater.”
The 2017 Reading Series is co-curated by writers Margaret Hasse and Clarence White and is funded in partnership with the Anoka County Library. The event is free and open to the public.
This project was funded in part or in whole with money from Minnesota’s Art and Cultural Heritage fund.
