Summer Solstice Soiree

Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts is looking forward to your presence as we celebrate the Summer Solstice during our summer fundraising event on June 21 from 5 to 8 pm. A few tickets are still available here.

Mix and mingle with other art enthusiasts in the gardens at BLCA, enjoy the food and beverage, purchase art from the clothesline by artists from around the country, or make a bid in our silent auction.

Enjoy the sounds of Brad Braund as he draws from the phrasing and melodies of classical music along with the melodies and rich chordal progressions of jazz for his own unique style of improvisation.

Engage with the fascinating pop-up exhibit in the gardens by Ben Jasmer. His “Discarded & Forgotten” series works with the ideas of exploring the things we throw out, the significance of waste, and the importance/availability of economic conservation as consumer driven Minnesotans. Benjamin Jasmer is a fiscal year 2016 recipient of an Artist Initiative grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. This activity is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.

You will also have the opportunity to preview the exhibition Blurred Boundaries, works by Jeannine Spooner Kitzhaber and Lyz Wendland. This exhibition explores the mapping of urban and suburban, architecture and nature, memories and physical places which result in colorful abstracted – Blurred Boundaries.
