On Friday, March 9 at 7:30 pm you are invited to join Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts to hear local authors Mary Jo Thompson and Dore Kiesselbach read selections from their writings. The event is free and open to the public.

Mary Jo Thompson is the author of Stunt Heart (Backwaters Press, 2017), winner of the 2016 Backwaters Poetry Prize, selected by Henri Cole. Her poetry is anthologized in The Best American Poetry, 2011 and Another and Another, Bull City Press, and has appeared in Beloit Poetry Journal, Field, Prairie Schooner, The Missouri Review, The North American Review, Rhino, Indiana Review, Spillway, and Carolina Quarterly, among other journals. Thompson teaches teachers and arts managers at two universities in Minneapolis and lives on an island in the Mississippi River.
Dore Kiesselbach has published two collections of poetry with the University of Pittsburgh Press, Salt Pier (2012) and Albatross (2017). His work has appeared in many magazines, including FIELD, Poetry, AGNI and The Poetry Review. His honors include the Agnes Lynch Starrett Prize, Britain’s Bridport Prize in poetry, the Robert H. Winner Memorial Award from the Poetry Society of America, and an Artist Initiative Grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board.
