The 2nd annual Writers Workshop Day will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017.

Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts will be offering its 2nd annual Writers Workshop Day “Beyond Imagination” on May 13, 2017.  This all day event for new, emerging and advanced writers, will feature six 80-minute workshops in poetry and prose led by local, award-winning writers and an opportunity for participants to read from their own work to their peers.


When: May 13, 2017

Time: 9 am- 4 pm

Cost: $65, includes continental breakfast and lunch.

Our workshops will be facilitated by the following award-winning authors:

Session One:

Becca Barniskis is a poet, performer, and educator based in Saint Paul, Minnesota whose work has appeared in a wide range of publications. Becca holds an MFA in creative writing and has been teaching poetry to people of all ages for almost 20 years.

Kris Woll Kris Woll is a Minneapolis-based writer interested in the pasts that we've lived, imagined, and inherited. Her essays have appeared in Edible Twin Cities, Minnesota magazine, and on the stage of Listen To Your Mother.

Session Two:

Paula Cisewski is the author of two books and three poetry chapbooks, including Ghost Fargo, which was selected by Franz Wright for the Nightboat Prize. Her poems, and her essays, appear widely in literary magazines.

Katherine Schaefer has been published in The Talking Stick, Minnetonka Review, and Digit. She received grants and awards from the Minnesota State Arts Board, Key West Literary Seminar, and Brainerd Writers’ Alliance.

Session Three:

 Robin Rozanski Robin Rozanski’s writing has appeared in A cappella Zoo, Thrice Fiction, The Austin Review, and others . She was a recipient of the InterMedia Arts Beyond the Pure Fellowship.

Diego Vazquez Diego Vazquez  has taught writing workshops across the metro area and has been published in a number of publications over the past twenty years. A Loft Mentor in Fiction for 2014–2015, he is the author of the novel Growing Through the Ugly.

Upon Registration, students will be sent a link to fill out their instructor and lunch preferences.
