Art of Darkness: Re-Inspired by the Paranormal
Call for original works of visual art
**Deadline Extended to Friday, April 1 at 11:59pm**
Building off the successful 2014 exhibition, a second show of paranormal art is planned for summer 2016 in the Banfill-Locke Galleries in Fridley, MN. Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts is housed in the Banfill Tavern, a Greek Revival building built in 1847 along the banks of the Mississippi River just north of Minneapolis. Rumors and evidence of paranormal activity are prevalent and with the Art of Darkness exhibition we will highlight and celebrate the lore of the building.
Do you paint the ghosts you’ve seen in your dreams? Do you have sketches you made after an alien encounter? Do you make Bigfoot sculptures just for fun? Here’s your chance to be heard and seen! Apply now with your original works of fine art inspired by or about the paranormal. Please don’t send us the blurry photo you took of the orbs in grandma’s attic; we’re looking for original art created with the paranormal in mind.
Noted Paranormal Radio Personalities Dave Schrader & Tim Dennis of Coast to Coast AM/Darkness Radio will be guest judges in addition to local Twin Cities paranormal artists Lacey Prpić Hedtke, Nathan Lewis, and Brandon Kuehn, and Washington DC based paranormal artist Justin Raphael Roykovich.
The exhibition will be on view in the Banfill galleries July 30 to August 27, 2016. Art work selected to be in the show will need to be delivered/shipped by July 25. Cost of shipment in both directions is the responsibility of the artist if shipping. Artwork is insured while in the Banfill Tavern building.
The application fee is $20 for up to 3 entries. 3D and 2D works are eligible for inclusion in the show. 2D works will need to be framed or presented ready for hanging. Works must not exceed 40” in width. Deadline for submission of images is March 28 by Midnight. All artists submitting work to be considered will be notified of their status by May 31. Submissions (jpgs labeled with artist and title) must be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. In the body of the email include: name, phone, email, mailing address, title, size, and medium of artworks being submitted. Payment can be made via check mailed to BLCA, 6666 East River Rd., Fridley, MN 55432, online at this Payment Link, or over the phone at 763.574.1850 with Visa or MC.
