On Friday, August 10 at 7:30 pm you are invited to join Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts to hear local authors Victoria Blanco and Marion Gómez read selections from their writings. The event is free and open to the public.
Victoria Blanco‘s essays have been published in Catapult, Bat City Review, and Fourth Genre. She is the recipient of a Fulbright Award and a Minnesota State Arts Board grant. She was a fellow in the 2017-18 Loft Mentor Series. She received her MFA from the University of Minnesota.
Marion Gómez is a poet and teaching artist based in Minneapolis. She has received grants from the Minnesota State Arts Board and the Jerome Foundation. Her poems have appeared in La Bloga, Mizna, and elsewhere. Her poem “Father Bought Mangos” was selected for the Saint Paul Almanac‘s Impressions Project. She is a member of the Latinx spoken word collective Palabristas and works at the Loft Literary Center.
